Mandrake, Needle Felted Plant, Enchanted Garden Collection, Wool Fantasy Plant, Wool Soft Sculpture, Miniature Felt Pot Plant, Collectibles
There is a special room in my heart for a magical creatures and fairy tale stories from those times of big colorful books and good night stories when there was no limits to imagination. I’ve often been inspired by them while making my little felties and decided to create my own small collection of magical plants and herbs!
Mandrakes are known around the world due to their unusual shape, magical properties and dreadfully bad temper. Some books state that being disturbed Mandrakes tend to start screaming so terribly, that unfortunate passer could go mad or even die. Dark Ages superstition of cause. The truth is much simpler. Mandrakes are ones of the nature grumblers.
Sure, Mandrakes can scream, but mostly at one another, when circumstances unable them to kick anopponent, or bite or throw something sticky at him. Possibly the origin of words “dirty argument” came from here as well.
Witnesses described their short interactions with Mandrakes as a lifetime of nagging mother-in-low experience squeezed in a nutshell. There were known cases when hardened criminals ran away from Mandrake fields in tears.
Despite their seemingly unimpressive appearance Mandrakes could conquer the world if not for chronic laziness, habit to nap for days and total inability to cooperate with each other.
Nowadays Mandrakes prefer to stay at private plants collections in warmth and coziness, and even seem to grumble less.
Needle felted Mandrake miniature measures about 15 cm (6″) with a pot.
As all my soft toys and collectibles, creature was created in non-smoke environment.
For my work I use soft wool, merino or corriedale types, mostly Australian, but some time I buy local – Czech wool, then I find nice structure and color 🙂
Miniature has been designed as a decorative collectible soft sculpture and is not a toy and would not be suitable for children.
Soft sculptures do not like water, so, please do not wash it. You can gently clean it with soft brush.
